My manifestation game’s on point in Uruguay.
I landed after a quick one hour flight from Buenos Aires, and met my Uber driver for an easy drive through Montevideo.
The city was beautiful… clean, open, wide tree-lined streets, the ocean breeze, and a relaxed vibe,
Flying always puts me in a bit of an altered state, and in the Uber, the channeled messages started dropping in. Images, dream-like feelings, a bit of a deja vu.
And then, as often happens when I’m channeling, the message dropped first as an acronym: C.V.T.M.
… what did it mean??? I waited…
Create. Vision. Trust. Meditate.
Oh, got it… if I’m always doing one of those… what could I create?
This was the adventure, here.
✨✨✨
practicing with small things
.. I was hungry and I wanted really, really good food, today.
Eating vegan in Latin America isn’t always the easiest game, and I wanted something hot. Not a salad.
But it was a holiday weekend, and Latin Americans have much to teach us all about how to do holidays right… most everything was closed.
No worries, the exact right food was coming my way. I put it out there.
Uber driver chatted with me and dropped me off, and I fell in love with my apartment when I saw the ocean view.
I walked the six blocks to the grocery store and got some food for the week, but I was tired from the early start of the day, and I still really wanted an incredibly delicious hot meal that I didn’t have to cook.
✨✨✨
Crossing the street with bags of groceries as I made my way back home, I looked up to see a sidewalk sign: “Food to go”.
Aha. A good start.
I walked inside.
There was a display case with some kind of bread or pastry type things… Coxinha. And, a sign for Vegan Coxinha.
“Oh… you have vegan food!”
“Oh yes…. lots of it” the woman on the other side of the counter smiled.
Her name was Indira, and she was the owner.
Indira began describing what she could make me…. plates of rice, black beans vegetables, spices, and what I gathered was something close to potatoes, but not (and turned out to be “Mandioca” — Cassava root).
“it all sounds amazing. I’m starving. can I get a bunch of what you just described and take it with me for tonight, maybe enough for tomorrow?”
“Of course. Where are you from?”
(… we were speaking English, which already seemed to be more common in Uruguay than any of my stops so far).
“United States. But I’m working remotely and traveling around for awhile.”
Indira described some more that she could make… “Tapioca” which was made with the gluten-free Mandioca flour.
“This allllllllll sounds amazing.”
“It is!!” she was totally lighting up, now…. “it’s Brazilian food… I lived on a town right on the border of Uruguay and Brazil. my daugher was born there. and I love Braziilian food….
… so when the pandemic started, and everything stopped — the government gave – how do you say? they paid for things for businesses.
… and I didn’t know what I was going to do. Because everything was shut down. But, I kept saying that I was going to make it work, you know?
… I kept saying that somehow, I was going to make it work. Because the power of your words, your thoughts, is really strong, you know what I mean? The power of your words, that’s what brings things into being”
Now, this was getting interesting… I’d found my food, and also a kindred soul.
“Ah!! so you started your business, you started this restaurant, then!”
“YES! she was totally lit up now… “And now it’s three years and we’ve totally made it. Next week, I’m going to talk with the President, to share about the success of — how do you say it in English — the success of this program that they started. It’s for women-owned businesses.”
“Amazing!! congratulations — that is a huge deal!”
“I know!! it really is. I didn’t think I’d make it but now we’re here and we’ve made it three years now, and everyone loves the food.
.. people come here for the Brazilian food and they tell me ‘it’s just like my grandmother made and I haven’t been able to find that anywhere.’ My partner Ezequiel runs the kitchen. He’s from Buenos Aires.
“This is an awesome story”
“What kind of work do you do?” Indira wanted to know
“well, I’m a personal coach. I do a lot of mind-body work… kind of like stress management, helping the body feel good even under stress. And I do spiritual work, helping people trust their own guidance and connect more to their intuition, stuff like that.
“OHHHHHHHHHH that’s why… I must have felt your vibes, or something. I’ve literally never told this whole story to someone who just walked into my restaurant before.”
Ezequiel made the food, fresh, while we talked.
With glad promises to return, I finished my walk home, delicious meal in hand
and even more, savoring this awesome connection on my very first day.
✨ ✨ ✨
I walked over to the ocean, down the “Rambla” and out onto the pier…. and then climbed across the black craggy rocks at the water’s edge, and took in the ocean, the city, the light.
and took in the reminder from all directions of the power we have to create our experience.
and the full moon rose over the craggy black rocks and the ocean waves, and I remembered how the universe brings us what we’re asking for, and what we don’t know we’re asking for.
If you’re in Montevideo, make sure to stop in to Dona Coxinha.
