The hiking trail that’ll give you the best views in Baños is a series of steps that takes you to a viewpoint called “El Virgen”.
To begin this hike, you’ll follow the street “Misionaros Dominicanos” till it ends. Here’s how to access the trail’s starting point.

After these steps, the first part of the trail is a dirt path that winds up the side of the mountain for a bit, with some shady portions.
Expect a Workout!
Once you reach the steps, the challenging portion begins, as you’ll make your way up the staircase.
Although the full hike up and back is just 0.8 miles, the steps are steep.. and, remember that the elevation of Baños is 1821 meters (or just under 6,000 feet).
If you’re not used to this kind of elevation, your body may need a few days to acclimate, and physical activity can feel much more challenging!
Remember to hydrate well and bring snacks.
Fortunately, the hike has several strategically placed rest points, where you can relax and enjoy a water break with views of the city.
